You guys turned out a rather consistent pace. 10:30's at each split. I'm guessing that you were passing lots of folks in the last few miles.
How bad was the crowd? I noticed that it took you about 12 minutes to get from the gun to the starting line mat. Yikes. Was their corralling efficient?

It was a dark and stormy morning...
so we walked to the starting corral in the rain, but by the start the rain had stopped. There followed a run around the park -- a sylvan idyll from which we jolted by our emergence on 7th ave, lined with cheering spectators. We couldn't hear them until we actually got out of the park, so apparently they were all just waiting quietly for our arrival. Sad for the runners ahead of us, but, c'est la vie.
Thence through Times Square, west to the Hudson, and down the waterfront to the battery.
As for your race connoisseur questions...
MABM's a metronome, so yeah -- we pretty much passed people the whole way. She just entered random stuff when she signed us up -- my bib had me in corral #1 (the elites were in #0), so she must have put me down for a 1:10:00 or something equally amusing -- anyway, I think we were a little far back, three corrals from the end. The pacers for 2:45:00 wandered past us at some point before the start and settled a couple of corrals ahead of us.
The park road (path?) is quite narrow, so they had corrals (really just markers) strung out for 10 blocks or so.
You can tell by the bib numbers in the results that people didn't run anything like their seeding.
Like Darin Rabb, started in corral #14 (bib#14310, next to last corral), but finished 136th.
